Hannya
An older painting of mine reworked, because I always wanted to do a series based (even if loosely) on Japanese folklore/traditions. I think I am going to try this once more at some point.
Hannya masks were used in Noh theatre and in various performances and rituals to represent women who became demons/demon-like due to their jealousy and obsessiveness. The masks aim to be frightening/angry, sad and even a bit comical (depending on the angle they are looked at from), to show all the range of emotions one would go through.
